Volunteer

What can a volunteer expect?

With 30–40 horses in our care, volunteers are the heart of Rising Starr. Every day, you help make rescue and second chances possible—caring for horses through hands-on barn work like mucking stalls, filling water buckets, grooming, turnout, paddock maintenance, blanketing, and more. As you work, you’ll build meaningful connections and gain a deeper understanding of each horse’s unique needs, healing, and journey toward a forever home.

How you'll help

Your time is one of the most powerful gifts you can give. By volunteering, you become part of each horse’s journey from rescue to renewal—helping create a safe, calm, and loving environment where healing can begin.

✅  Muck stalls and maintain clean, comfortable living spaces

✅  Clean and refill water buckets

✅ Feed horses and assist with daily care

✅  Groom horses and provide gentle, hands-on attention

✅  Blanket horses as needed for comfort and safety

✅  Pick paddocks and keep outdoor spaces safe

✅  Keep barn aisles tidy, organized, and hazard-free

✅  Assist staff with daily turn-out and turn-in

✅  Spend quiet time with horses, helping build trust and confidence!

✅  And so much more, every task truly matters!

Can’t Volunteer? Make a Donation.

Not everyone can give their time—but everyone can make a difference. Your donation helps Rising Starr Horse Rescue save lives and provide rescued horses with the care they need to heal.

Donations support urgent veterinary care, feed, and essential supplies. Veterinary expenses are our greatest cost, as many horses arrive needing immediate medical attention.

Every dollar counts, and every gift matters.

Our lifeline is our volunteers.
